Youth Sailing Courses 2012

On completion of the Stage 1 sailing course you will have a basic understanding of how a boat sails, some experience of steering and handling the boat. On successful completion a Junior Logbook & Certificate will be issued.

The Stage 2 course covers basic sailing skills, rope work and collision avoidance. By the end of the course, students should be able to tack, control their boat speed and understand the basic principles of sailing. On successful completion a Junior Logbook & Certificate will be issued.

Course Prerequisites:
Stage 1 – None ; Stage 2 – Stage 1 certificate.

Location: Neptune Water Sports Centre

Course Cost: £120 for 5 sessions

The Stage 3 course covers rigging, launching and recovery, sailing techniques, capsize recovery and sailing theory. By the end of the course, students should be able to sail around a triangular course in moderate conditions.

Stage 4 is specifically aimed at adapting existing skills for two man boats. By the end of the course, students will be able to sail a triangular course, launch and return to a beach, jetty or mooring in a two man boat.

Course Prerequisites:
Stage 3 – Stage 2 certificate ; Stage 4 – Stage 3 certificate.
