Junior Dinghy Sailing Courses

Course Duration: 5 Days

Minimum Age: Neptune 8+ / Deben 10+

Course Content: This is a combined Stage 1 and 2 course for beginners, which takes students through all the skills of the Stage 1 and 2 syllabus.

Course Content: On completion of this sailing course you will have a basic understanding of how a boat sails, some experience of steering and handling the boat. On successful completion a Junior Logbook & Certificate will be issued.

Minimum Age: Oulton Broad 8+ / Neptune 10+

Course Content: The course covers basic sailing skills, rope work and collision avoidance. By the end of the course, students should be able to tack, control their boat speed and understand the basic principles of sailing. On successful completion a Junior Logbook & Certificate will be issued.

Minimum Age: 11+

Course Content: The course covers rigging, launching and recovery, sailing techniques, capsize recovery and sailing theory. By the end of the course, students should be able to sail around a triangular course in moderate conditions.

Minimum Age: Neptune 11+ / Oulton Broad 8+

Course Content: The course is specifically aimed at adapting existing skills for two man boats. By the end of the course, students will be able to sail a triangular course, launch and return to a beach, jetty or mooring in a two man boat.

Course Duration: 2 Sessions

Minimum Age: 11+

Course Content: The course will aim to provide students with the ability to handle a boat in all circumstances, developing knowledge and skills so that seamanlike decisions will be made and effective action can be taken in moderate conditions will be made. This will include man over board, sailing rudderless, sailing plateless, reefing afloat, lee shore landings and anchoring.

Course Content: This course provides students with the skills to sail both asymmetric and symmetric dinghies and the background knowledge to support these newly honed skills.

Course Content: This course is aimed at building the confidence of those sailors who have done the RYA Stage 4 course and are thinking of joining a club and possibly racing. You will be taught all the key knowledge and skills to successfully negotiate a club race course.
