a two day course designed to introduce adults to the sport of Canoeing,
it will cover basic forward, backward and sideways paddle strokes
and what to do in the event of a capsize. The course is not an
accredited course, but purely an introduction to the sport.

Course Content: A comprehensive
training programme for sheltered water rescue and recovery which
replaces the Canoe Safety test The course covers a wide range of
land and boat based rescues of swimmers and paddlers in and from
a wide range of canoe craft. This is a pre-requisite for the coaching
awards and a valuable day for anyone who wants to be confident
that they can get themselves (or a companion) out of trouble on
the water.
Prior knowledge or Qualifications: Practice & understanding
of canoe & kayak safety rescue or old BCU CST, preferably First
Aid, BCU 2 Star.
