SWSA at Alton Water Sports Centre
Alton
Water Sports Centre is situated in the attractive surroundings
of Alton Water, a haven for wildlife and a popular leisure area.
The non-tidal waters make Alton Water an excellent venue for beginners
to learn and participate in water-based activities and the perfect
environment to provide young people with safe and fun outdoor activities.
A purpose built facility, the Centre is positioned on the southern
shore and offers a safe enclosed stretch of water, changing facilities
and café for refreshments.
Sailing
The
centre is ideal for beginners and we can provide training in
either the R.Y.A Youth Sailing Scheme or the National Schools
Sailing Association Awards' programmes. We have different craft
to match your group size or experience, including Optimists,
Taz’s and Toppers.
Land based Activities
The Alton Water Centre is available for use by
Groups planning activity days or educational visits. Be this as
part of water sports day or a field trip, a variety of land-based
activities including team building and initiative programmes can
be supported for groups visiting the Centre. There are large
areas of open grassland, picnicking areas, rambling and cycling
tracks. Additional equipment may be available, please contact the
Suffolk Outdoor Education team to discuss your requirements.
Kayaking and Windsurfing
The site also lends itself to the introduction of both Windsurfing and Kayaking, both the BCU kayaking syllabus and the RYA windsurfing Syllabus can be arranged for your group.

Location
Alton Water Sports Centre is situated approximately eight miles south of Ipswich in the village of Stutton. Follow the signs from the B1080.
There is car parking adjacent to the centre.
